Sustainability
For us, sustainability begins with decisions we can explain clearly. FlowGlow uses a widely available E27 base, so an existing light fixture can often remain in use. Software updates can add functions without requiring new hardware, and the essential controls continue to work without the cloud.
It is just as important to be open about what we cannot currently prove or promise. That is why we avoid broad claims about carbon neutrality or supposedly exact CO₂ savings.
Designed for long-term use
FlowGlow has a rated lifespan of 25,000 operating hours. How long an individual lamp lasts in practice depends on factors including daily use, ambient temperature, ventilation, and the number of on-and-off cycles.
The 25,000-hour figure is therefore a technical reference value, not a guarantee for every individual lamp.
Keep using an existing E27 light fixture
FlowGlow has an E27 base and works with compatible E27 light fixtures. If the dimensions and ventilation are suitable, you can continue using an existing table or floor lamp.
This means a completely new light fixture is not always necessary. If you do not have a suitable fixture, the FlowGlow Base is a matching lamp holder.
New functions through software updates
Firmware updates can fix issues and expand FlowGlow's functions without replacing the hardware. Updates are installed over WiFi.
We do not promise a specific number of future effects or an unlimited period of new features and support. The updates available will depend on the product's continued development.
Control without the cloud
FlowGlow can be controlled with the IR remote and Bluetooth without an account, cloud connection, or continuous internet access.
WiFi is needed only for optional features, including Alexa, Google Home, remote access, automatic schedules, and firmware updates.
Local control reduces dependence on a continuously available online service. It does not, however, make FlowGlow automatically carbon-neutral or completely independent of digital infrastructure.
Developed and supported in Saarland
FlowGlow is developed, tested, and supported at the company's headquarters in Überherrn, Germany. This includes product development, software, quality assurance, and customer support.
This does not mean that every component or the entire manufacturing process comes from Germany. We want to distinguish clearly between development, support, and manufacturing.
What we do not currently claim
We deliberately avoid statements that we cannot support with reliable evidence. We therefore do not currently claim:
- carbon neutrality,
- a specific amount of CO₂ savings,
- that FlowGlow fully replaces other lighting products,
- an independently prepared life-cycle assessment.
Our aim is not to portray FlowGlow as a perfectly sustainable product. Instead, we want to explain which decisions support longer, more flexible use and where reliable data is still missing.
